Chris Jones – Artist
Chris Jones graduated from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut with a degree in Communications and has spent most of his professional career in the advertising field. During this time Chris has partnered with dozens of leading national brands to plan, implement and optimize performance-based print and digital advertising programs. While generating leads and sales for clients has been Chris’ professional focus, his interests extend far beyond the advertising arena. Chris’ creative side was developed and nurtured early in his life by his father Ralston “Bud” Jones, a syndicated cartoonist who created and wrote the comic strip “Mr. Abernathy”. After selling “Mr. Abernathy”, Bud Jones concentrated his efforts on gag writing and for 25 years was the sole writer for the comic strip “Hagar the Horrible”, which was carried in nearly 2,000 newspapers and over 50 countries. While Chris tried his hand in cartooning like his father (with some gags ultimately being published), his creative focus shifted to illustration. While initially focusing on drawing professional athletes and getting the drawings signed by the athlete, Chris soon expanded to drawing . . . almost anything! Portraits, dogs, cats, horses, group pictures, cars, houses, and even fish. Chris loves the look and feel of black and white art and works exclusively with soft pencil on textured water color paper.
When he’s not drawing, Chris can be found on the golf course, in the kitchen cooking, or most likely with his family. He has been married for over 25 years to his wife Jennifer and has a daughter Alexandra who is a recent graduate from The University of Massachusetts – Amherst, and a son Christopher who is currently attending The University of Hartford.
